WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) 鈥� Miami Marlins right-hander Eury P茅rez is working on a perfect game through seven innings against the Athletics on Sunday.
The 23-year-old P茅rez, who has never pitched a complete game in his major league career, has retired all 21 batters he鈥檚 faced with eight strikeouts. P茅rez has thrown 92 pitches, 56 for strikes.
The Marlins have not had a perfect game in the 33-year history of the franchise.
The A鈥檚 have not come close to getting on base. P茅rez has induced six flyouts, only one of which made it to the warning track.
P茅rez is facing the A鈥檚 for the first time since his rookie season of 2023.
The last big league pitcher to throw a perfect game was Domingo Germ谩n for the New York Yankees against the A鈥檚 on July 28, 2023.
