The Hunt: ISIS destroys the Great Mosque of al-Nuri

WASHINGTON — The 800 year old Great Mosque of al Nuri in Mosul, Iraq was destroyed Wednesday night. This was the mosque where ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi famously announced the formation of its so-called “caliphate” in 2014. ISIS blamed the U.S. military for destroying the mosque.

But in this week’s edition of The Hunt with ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ national security correspondent J.J. Green, Col. John Thomas, spokesman for U.S. Central Command, said that’s not the case.
