Actors , and filmmaker are set to be honored at the Academy Museum Gala this fall. The red carpet for the annual fundraising event, now in its sixth year, has become a reliably starry and glamorous affair 鈥� a West Coast rival to New York鈥檚 Met Gala. This year鈥檚 edition will take place on the evening of Oct. 17 in Los Angeles.
Academy museum director and president Amy Homma said in a statement that the honorees,鈥� 鈥渆xtraordinary careers exemplify the creativity, innovation, and excellence that continues to move the industry forward.鈥�
The event鈥檚 host committee includes Questlove, Judd Apatow, Teyana Taylor, Ludwig G枚ransson, Seth Rogen and Demi Moore. Co-chairs are Robert Rodriguez, and Kate Capshaw.
The gala raises money to support the museum, from its exhibitions to its public screenings. Theron and Carpenter will be participating in several of those public programs 鈥� Theron for a conversation with the museum鈥檚 teen council and a screening of 鈥淢ad Max: Fury Road,鈥� and Carpenter for three nights of screenings of his films, including 鈥淗alloween,鈥� which ties in to the museum鈥檚 new exhibition entitled The Horror Show.
honoring Bruce Springsteen, Pen茅lope Cruz, Bowen Yang and filmmaker Walter Salles raised over $12 million.
